MY MINI MADNESS

MiniMeet 2004 Photos and Videos are HERE!! Click to See!

Here I shall talk  (in detail) about MINIs (and Minis).

Now will you please stand for the saying of the pledge.

I pledge allegiance, to the MINI / Mini, with the Union Jack on top.

And to the wide wheel base on which it stands.

One engine, under bonnet,

With tiny-ness and room for all.

Thank You.

(Just kidding, the pledge is pointless, but fun, and isn't that what MINIs/Minis are supposed to be?  Besides, I'm not that obsessed.  Well, I don't think so at least.)

  • first of all, this is just a big ad for MINI

  • sort of

  • the colors that are or have been available on the new MINI are...

solid black (discontinued) (one with white bonnet stripes and chrome bumper inserts with white roof lives near me.  but I mean, come on, 2 options out of what, 100s?  I still love it though.)

                                        liquid yellow

                                        chili red

pepper white (only available on cooper and cooper S)

cosmos black (only available on cooper) (discontinued)

dark silver (only available on cooper s)

electric blue (only available on cooper s)

                                        British racing green

                                        Indy blue (discontinued)

velvet red (only available on cooper) (discontinued)

solid gold (only available on cooper and cooper convertible)

                                        pure silver

                                        silk green (discontinued)

                                        candy blue (discontinued)

                                        purple haze

cool blue (cooper and cooper S convertible only)

hyper blue (cooper S and cooper S convertible)

                                        jet black

hot orange (only on cooper and cooper S convertible)

astro black (cooper and cooper convertible only)

  • you can get a MINI with bonnet (hood) stripes in either black or white

  • you can also get a MINI with certain roof graphics, such as a checkered flag or Union Jack (which I like very much.)

  • MINIs (or Minis in this case) were first made in 1959, the original Morris Mini Minor, and the Austin Se7en (and no, that is not a typo) by the British Motor Corporation  (BMC)

  • the uppercase "MINI" means the "new" MINI and the "Mini" is used to refer to the "old/classic" Mini(s).

  • Minis were the first cars to have a transverse mounted engine. (for those of you who have no clue what that means, it means that the engine is rotated so that it is sideways within the engine compartment.)

  • classic Minis are 10 feet long

  • 5.3 million classic Minis were made

  • few were and are in the U.S.

  • Minis are most famous for their roll in the 1969 film, The Italian Job.

  • MINIs (the new ones that is) are also most famous for their roll in the 2001 remake/ sequel of The Italian Job.

  • I also recently found online a LEGO MINI that a guy made that can be viewed at www.mocpages.com/ moc.php/1112.

  • Both the 1969 and 2001 The Italian Job are both very good movies and the story is great, and what's more, there are Minis and MINIs in both.  (plus, I like gold too.)

  • there are 2,415 parts in a MINI.

  • a Cooper is 55.4 inches tall, and a Cooper S is 55.7 inches tall.

  • they are both 75.8 inches wide. (mirror to mirror)

  • to get more information on the MINI, visit www.miniusa.com, the U.S. department of the BMW MINI, and you can request a brochure.  the site is great and has a lot of information and some fun games too.  I highly recommend it to anyone interested in MINIs and possibly Minis too.

  • there is one question I have that always confuses me.  Why are the MINI One and the MINI One D out in Britain and not here.

  • the MINI One is a slower version of the Cooper, and the One D is the same thing, just that it runs on diesel fuel.  (Strange, in my opinion, for a small car.)

  • an interesting fact is that nobody actually knows what the "S" in a Mini or MINI means.  the only people who knew were Sir Alec Issigonis and John Cooper.  many people think that it stood for Special or Super.

  • the MINI cooper and cooper S convertibles are available with three roof colors; black, green, and blue.

  • I shall put down more MINI and Mini facts later

  • NOTE:  the MINI Cooper cabriolet (the convertible version of the MINI Cooper) is now available!
